Safety Week Day 1 – Driving Personal Ownership

Author: Charter

As we kickstart Safety Week 2024, our focus today revolves around driving personal ownership in safety practices. We believe that every team member plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment, and through our programs, we empower everyone to take charge of safety.

At Charter, we understand that safety is a collective responsibility. That’s why we’ve implemented an observations program that encourages all team members to actively participate in identifying potential hazards and suggesting improvements. Whether it’s preventing an incident or bringing up an innovative safety suggestion, every observation counts towards making our workplace safer. By sharing observations, we not only raise awareness, but also foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Personal ownership in safety also means taking responsibility for the equipment we use daily. Each team member is encouraged to inspect the equipment they’re working with before use. Whether it’s machinery, tools, or protective gear, thorough inspection ensures that everything is in proper working condition, minimizing the risk of accidents or malfunctions. By actively participating in these inspections, each team member contributes to maintaining a safe and hazard-free workplace.
